Dr Gavin Blyth B.D.S (UK)

Dr Gavin is the principal dentist at Planet after realising his dream of designing and setting up a modern dental practice in 2012 with his wife, Fran in their adopted home, Perth.

Dr Gavin qualified in 1996 from Dundee Dental Hospital in Scotland and shortly after he completed a 2-year post-grad specialist training program in Orthodontics. This has given him a keen interest in all aspects of removable, fixed, and functional orthodontics which can be a nice break from his main general practice skills. He worked at 3 different UK practices as an associate, both in government and the private sector.  Dr Gavin and his wife Fran, also a qualified dentist, decided to emigrate to sunny Perth with their two children in 2007.

You will be amused and comforted by Dr Gavin’s Scottish humour and ‘gift of the gab’, which should take your mind off any dental treatment. If not, then you might be more amused by the constant eye-rolling of his assistant, Carmel at Dr Gavin’s attempt at jokes.

Dr Gavin has a down-to-earth nature and ensures patients feel part of the treatment planning process and are fully informed during their dental appointments.

Dr Gavin enjoys travelling, when he can, to experience what the world has to offer, but always looks forward to watching a Perth sunset at his local Scarborough Beach with family and friends over our amazing local foods and wines.

Dr Gavin is an accredited member of the IAOMT and completed his SMART certification to fully understand the safe removal process of Amalgam mercury fillings. He attended the first-ever Australian holistic dental conference in 2018 and strives to continue to learn and implement the ever-increasing field of holistic dentistry into Planet Dental, to complement traditional dentistry.

Dr Nathan Goh B.D.Sc (WA)

Dr Nathan has been with us at Planet since Dec 2018, quickly becoming a perfect fit with his gentle, and compassionate nature.  We had been looking for another full-time dentist for some time and he finally arrived!

Dr Nathan was born in Perth, growing up in Wembley Downs.  He completed his dental training at UWA and spent the first 5 years of his career working in Mandurah.  He finds nothing more rewarding than helping a patient with dental issues to change their mouth into a healthy and beautiful smile.

Dr Nathan’s wife, Bec is also a dentist and they are proud parents to a young family.  Dr Nathan’s family is his priority in life and this shows through his caring general practice skills with patients of all ages.

Dr Nathan has a rather exhilarating past-time away from dentistry …. he loves fishing but is mad for spearfishing! Freediving for minutes at a time among the friendly, and sometimes not-so-friendly fish of WA makes Dr Nathan head far and wide in search of that perfect trophy fish.

Dr Fran Blyth B.D.S (UK), Advanced diploma (Naturopathy & Western herbal medicine) & Bachelor of Complementary Medicine.

Dr Fran has been the quiet force at Planet Dental since its beginnings, with her husband Gavin. Dr Fran and Gavin met at Dundee Dental School and after graduating, Fran worked at various general dental practices in Scotland. She also practised in the Community dental environment where she enjoyed treating children primarily. After having two children of her own and then emigrating to Australia she embarked on further study, namely Complementary Medicine.

A firm believer in lifelong learning, Dr Fran completed her Complementary Medicine degree, and Naturopathic studies and is convinced that a whole-body perspective is imperative when considering dental health. Attending an IAOMT conference in Savannah, Georgia, USA in 2018 has been a career highlight! Here she met many dentists from around the world with a similar view towards dentistry.  Dr Fran has returned to practice and offers routine and kids’ dentistry on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Dr Fran loves travelling the world and visiting family in Scotland, but when at home, enjoys pilates, and walking their spoodle dog, Missy!
